"This book has been written for the man of moderate means, and with the intention of showing that the camera and the rifle are not incompatible companions of a hunting trip. The telephotos of living animals, not one of which has been taken from a hide, are intended to give some idea of the country which they inhabit and the circumstances under which a sportsman is likely to see them; also to draw attention to the very interesting forms of animal life to be met with round the camp and on the march. Many of these photographs have appeared in the Field, Game and Gun, The Illustrated Weekly of India." Deer of various sorts, bears, wild sheep and goats in the northern states of India and what is now Pakistan. Several binding variations are known including dark blue cloth and mid blue-green cloth, some are titled in black whilst others are titled in gilt. This copy is the mid blue-green cloth with black titles. "[The author] provides chapters on various game to be stalked, how to stalk and where to stalk. While most of the text concerns a how-to approach, the author does include brief vignettes of his own experiences hunting goral, bear, tiger, barasingh, and other species." (Czech). .
