Dennis Holman's classic work on African elephant and its many skilled poachers using age old primitive but deadly weapons. Many tribesman depended on their bow and arrow and sharp spears to kill the elephant. The tusks are removed quickly and sold to the middle man, the meat is cut up and distributed. Holman lived among these hunters to learn the tricks of their trade. Profusely illustrated with photo plates. A beautiful sought after book, very good in VG dust jacket.

A fascinating pictorial account of large scale elephant hunting and poaching in Kenya & Tanganyika, and the part played by the legendary Game Warden Bill Woodley and his game rangers to suppress the poaching syndicate by employing elaborate measures. Dennis Holman was successful in penetrating inside the poaching syndicate and was able to document the details first hand, supplemented with numerous sharp photographs.
