A complete set of Marloth's pioneering work on South African flora. Original green buckram cloth with gilt titling on front and spine, complete with all plates, numerous b&w photos and text figures. The elusive Plate 59 (Disa uniflora) is intact (as issued) in Vol.4.

Volume I (Families 1-35. Thallophyta, Archegoniatae, Gymnospermae, Dicotyledones): published in 1913. pp. xviii + 264 + 36 coloured & 30 monochrome plates.

Volume II (Families 36-106. Podostemonaceae - Umbelliferae): published in 1925 (in two sections), pp. xii + 272 + 52 coloured & 28 monochrome plates.

Volume III Section I (Families 107-125. Sympetalae. Ericaceae - Verbenaceae): published in 1932, pp. xx + 148 + 50 coloured & 20 monochrome plates. 

Volume III Section II (Families 126-141. Sympetalae. Myoporaceae - Compositae): published in 1932, pp. iii + 149-349 + 50 coloured & 20 monochrome plates. 

Volume IV (Monocotyledones): published in 1915, pp: x + 208 + 42 coloured & 18 monochrome plates.

Heavy foxing on first and last pages of most volumes and scattered elsewhere, boards of three volumes worn with loss.
