First Edition: 32 pages, 4to (300 x 230 mm), 20 illustrations from watercolour sketches, full vellum in bright condition, titled gilt on upper cover, a very good copy.

A South African Bibliography. volume 2, page 453. One copy only listed. 'General Campbell's Flying Column was stationed in the Orange Free State at this time.' Comprises satirical pieces, news of the Column and poems including 'A 16th Brigade Alphabet:' 'A is the ardour that brought us out here. B stands for Burghers who seldom appear. C is for Campbell, our leader so named ... W 's De Wet, who's still running they say. X Expectation to catch him one day. Y is for Yeoman, so sturdy and strong. Z is the end of this doggerel song.'
