Lawrence's memoirs as an enlisted man in the R.A.F., which remained unpublished until after his death due to the people mentioned in the work.
De luxe first edition in original slipcase, limited to 2000 numbered copies of which this is #1645.
Interestingly, the deluxe edition contains all the profanities and strong language Lawrence used in his original manuscript, which was omitted in the trade edition by leaving a blank space in the text (an example of the two texts is given in the final two images in the image box).
Publisher's half-leather binding with blue cloth boards and blue leather spine. Top edge gilt and fore- and bottom edges untrimmed as called for.
Slipcase is in good condition with a few minor abrasions on the fore edge. Binding tight. Publisher's decorated end-papers with original bookseller's ticket on the bottom of the front paste-down, "Lantern Books, P.O. Box 500, Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia".
Some moderate foxing on the verso of the front endpaper and the first blank leaf, as well as on the verso of the rear end-paper and the final blank leaf, but otherwise the book remains very clean internally.
