Crealock, soldier-artist, was military secretary to Lord Chelmsford during operations in the Eastern Cape in 1878 and during the Zulu War. He carried his artist's materials in his saddle-bag, and recorded landscapes, camp sites and scenes, battlefields and military and civil personalities. Ten of his drawings were published in the Illustrated London News. On his death in 1895, his portfolio was left in the care of his Regiment, the 95th Foot.
