'In 1966, upon the anniversary of Van Wyk's sixtieth birthday, quite a few tribute volumes were published. Tristia Sketch Book was published by Human & Rousseau. It is a notebook in which the poet, in addition to many poems, or parts of poems (which later all appeared infull in Tristia), also made all kinds of loose notes: all written in pencil. This published sketchbook corresponds exactly to the original written by the poet. The colophon states that the Tristia Sketch Book was printed from lithographic positives. For L.C. Eksteen (Standpunte, February 1967), going through this sketchbook was a fascinating exploration of the world of Van Wyk Louw.' (https://www.litnet.co.za/np-van-wyk-louw-1906-1970/)
