Dr Duminy (1898-1982) was born and educated in Bellville. He went on to become a Rhodes Scholar and Principal of the University of Cape Town. This work is one of the few that covers what are now referred to as the 'Northern suburbs' of the Cape metropolis - Bellville, Tygerberg, Blouberg (Blaauwberg) and Milnerton.
