Du Plessis wrote a number of books on aspects of the history of the ZAR. It is an impressive work and he provides interesting facts relating to events. For example he provides a full list of all these captured by the Boers during the Jameson Raid, the Reformers arrested after the Raid (a Who's Who of Johannesburg society!) mentions those Boers who fought against Malaboch, who was at the Siege of Wakkerstroom and events surrounding some of the lesser know campaigns undertaken by Boer forces under Presidents Burgers and Kruger. It is amazing to think a book of this quality and size could be produced in Pretoria in the middle of the SA War when the life of the ZAR itself was about to be extinguished - of which Du Plessis was well aware. His last line of the books reads: DE HEMEL HELPE ONS.
