Half leather rebound with gilt lettering on spine, new end pages, pp. 284, b&w plates. Small library stamps on verso of title page, frontis and another plate not present, about one third of fold-out map missing.

Extracted from Czech (Kenneth), An Annonated Bibliography of African Big Game Hunting Books 1785-1999, (Trophy Room Books, Agoura, 2011); page 52: “The author travelled through Angola to the Belgian Congo and spend considerable time visiting and observing native tribes, particularly those of cannibals. He also journeyed after big game in French Equatorial Africa in the Oubangui-Chari region north of the Congo. Crossing the Ouarra River, he bagged waterbuck, wildebeest, and elephant again near the Mbomu rover. On another occasion, Campbell almost died in the torrid reaches of the southern Sahara when he lost his way while hunting gazelle.”
