316pp. Portraits in profusion.

A collection of roughly 1500-1600 short biographies of notable women of South Africa from the early 1900's. Each entry is accompanied with a portrait. The modern reader will find that this work additionally affords a fascinating glimpse into the fashions and hairstyles of the period.

There is an added short section at the end of the biographies list titled "Women's Work in South Africa", which contains short descriptive articles dealing with a few of the many women's organisations in the sub-continent. This is followed by an index.

The book is clean internally with a contemporary owner's name and address on the verso of the front endpaper. The binding is worn along the edges.
