This work, published on the then frontier town of Graham's Town, originally first appeared in 12 numbered monthly parts, which ran from March 1851 to February 1852.

The issues were paged continuously for practical reasons with the idea being to bind them into a single volume after the termination of hostilities and completion of the work.

From issue no. 9 the title changed to "A Narrative of the Kaffir War of 1850-51-52". This title remained after the twelve issues were bound, now known as the Graham's Town edition.

Single issues are particularly scarce.

This issue, no.5 from July 1851, runs from pp.181-220. The green wraps are loose. Internally in good condition. Contemporary signature of "A"? Pritchard on front wrap.
