First edition:248 pages, frontispiece 'The author with a little Wambouti girl,' 25 photographic illustrations, starting to wear at the front hinge, original mustard cloth boards, which are slightly soiled, titled red on the spine, light foxing throughout and on the page edges, a good copy.

Czech (Dr. Kenneth) An Annotated Bibliography of African Big Game Hunting Books 1785-1999 page 29. 'The author recounts his hunting experiences over several decades, ranging from buffalo in the Lake Tana region to elephant near Avakubi in the Belgian Congo and also in Uganda. He guided the Prince of Wales on two hunts, and bagged a wide variety of game, including lion, rhinoceros, and other plains game. In one instance, he saved American millionaire Alfred Vanderbilt from a charging rhino. Blixen-Finecke achieved a measure of fame as the husband of Isak Dinesen'.
