 First English Edition: 2 volumes. 1 - xx + 435 pages. 11 - xii + 397 pages, frontispiece portrait in 1 of Samuel Teleki, frontispiece map in II showing the route of the expedition, 34 plates, numerous text illustrations, maps at the end of both volumes have been repaired, uncut edges, bookplate on the front paste-down endpaper of each volume, original brown cloth with gilt vignettes on upper covers and gilt antelope heads and titles on the spines, light stain at the top of the upper cover of volume II, a very good set.

Departing form Zanzibar, the expedition hunted buffalo, rhino, and a variety of palins game in the neighbourhood of Mount Kilimanjaro. Near Lake Nyriri, more rhino and buffalo were encountered. While hunting elephant, von Höhnel was injured from recoil when he fired his heavy bore rifle from a prone position, Continuing into Kenya, the party hunted rhino, buffalo and eland near Lake Baringo, There was also considerable elephant hunting near Mount Nyiro with additional elephant stalking near Lake Stephanie.
