326pp with fold-out map between pages 316 and 317. Kaki boards with dark brown writing to the spine and front cover.

Hard cover in fairly good condition with some edge wear, especially the top corners of the cover. Previous owner's name inside. The fold out map has a tear along one of the top fold lines and a little foxing. The errata sheet has some foxing which is not obvious elsewhere in the book. There are a few light pencil notations.

This is the First Afrikaans Edition of Colonel Reitz's Anglo-Boer War memoir, which was originally written in Dutch. In 1929 Reitz helped with translating his memoir into English and then together with Susanne du Plessis, Reitz translated it into Afrikaans. The book is undated but other references date its publication 1929.

The book is dedicated to Reitz's father Francis William Reitz whom he describes as "die laaste oorlewende president van die gewese Suid-Afrikaanse Republieke".

Preface by General Jan Smuts.
