The Ndebele nation were formed in response to the Mfecane. They were preached to, traded with, had concessions extracted from them and their land expropriated from them by white visitors, who then wrote about them. This book attempts to examine the Ndebele from a different point of view, with particular emphasis on the first two decades (1820-1840). It ends with the arrival of Mzililkazi in Matabeleland.
