Internally very good with long inscription from the author to Geoffrey Hedley who’s bookplate is on the front pastedown. Black and white plates. Scarce.

John Talbot Clifton was a compulsive traveller who explored Canada, Siberia, Burma, Malaya., Indonesia, Africa and South America, who was known for shooting wild animals and eating them. He once dined on a Mammoth recovered frozen from the Arctic permafrost.

Geoffrey Hedley was a British Collector of Chinese Art.

Violet Clifton was a descendent of Charles Beauclerk, 1st Duke of St Albans
the illegitimate son of King Charles II.
