Publisher's illustrated hardcover binding displaying the City of Kimberley's coat of arms.

The motto reads Spero Meliora, "I hope it gets better". On the arms a lion rampant is superimposed on a golden lozenge (diamond), representing the city's diamond-mining industry, with the Union Jack in the background.

165pp. Illustrated.

Book is square and binding is solid. Contents clean with only some tape ghosts on the endpapers.

Contains many interesting contemporary adverts in text.

A vintage guide to the historical diamond-mining city. Includes sections on the history, mining, entertainments, sports and social activities, public services and institutions, hotels etc. that the city had to offer its visitors in the 1950's.

A very good copy.
