Rare and complete collection of fine lithographs of famous cricketers from the early 20th century, including such legendary players as W. G. Grace, Bernard Bosanquet, Victor Trumper and Frank Laver. A must for the cricketing enthusiast.
Albert Chevallier Tayler (1862 – 1925) was an English artist who specialised in portrait and genre painting, but he was also involved in the plein air methods of the Newlyn School. Tayler was an avid cricketer, and in 1905 produced a set of twelve watercolours of famous and mostly royal cricket players. George William Beldam (1868 – 1937) was an English first-class cricketer and a pioneer of action photography in sport. (wikipedia.com)
Condition: Good-very good. Stains, rubbing, spots of light soiling and superficial wear to boards. Discolouration and spots of superficial wear to spine, slight shelfwear to top and tail of spine. Inscription on front pastedown, light creasing to front endpaper, spots of foxing to rear endpaper and pastedown. Light stains to top and fore edges of textblock. Light creasing to top edge of page with descriptive text for T. Hayward. Texts are clean, lithographs are all in fine condition. Collated and complete. Well bound.
