The Old Man and the Sea is a literary classic that has captured the hearts of readers for generations. As a book collector, owning a first edition hardcover of this Ernest Hemingway novella would be a treasure.

The book was first published in 1952 by Charles Scribner's Sons, and the first edition points include the following:The first edition states ""A"" on the copyright page. The dust jacket has a price of $3.00 on the front flap and a photo of Hemingway on the back panel. This copy offered here is also a 1952 edition, but does not fit the exact detail described here above. This copy resembles most of the first edition and looks exactly the same in the dust jacket.

50,000 copies were printed of the first edition, making first printings perhaps less scarce than other collectible books. However, finding one in excellent condition is quite rare and valuable. Copies range considerably in value by condition. The first printing can fetch anywhere from $300-3,000 or more depending on condition. Copies signed by Ernest Hemingway can fetch upwards of $15,000.

2005 first edition with red pictorial boards. 456 pages. This copy is in very good condition. Published by the Kent State University Press.

Under Kilimanjaro is a non-fiction novel by Ernest Hemingway (July 21, 1899 – July 2, 1961), edited and published posthumously by Robert W. Lewis and Robert E. Fleming. It is based upon journals that he wrote while he was on his last safari. It is a longer and re-edited version of True at First Light.

True at First Light was published in 1999. The book was presented as a "fictional memoir". Six years later the work was republished a second time as Under Kilimanjaro. The work is based on a partially written manuscript, and is about Hemingway's second trip to Africa (wikipedia)
