First Edition: 103 pages, 8vo (220 x 145 mm), frontispiece, 7 plates, folding map, original blue cloth, titled and decorated gilt on the upper cover, a very good copy.

Hackett (R.G) : South African War Books, page 90, 'Campaign record of the Volunteer Company the East Surrey Regiment in South Africa from April 1900 - May 1901. The unit joined Gen. Buller's force in the northern advance from Ladysmith. Thereafter the Company was stationed for several months at Van Reenan's Pass on the Natal/Orange River Colony border. A company roll is included'. With an association inscription on the front free endpaper reading, 'To my friend Sid. W. Knight, With Best Wishes, Alf Driver, 6185 "I" Company, 2nd East Surrey Regt. Jan. 05.' Alf Driver is listed in the Roll as a private.
