First edition: 252 pages, frontispiece, 15 plates, brown cloth gilt, ownership stamps on front free endpaper and on two other pages, a very good copy.

 Czech (Kenneth) An Annotated Bibliography of African Big Game Hunting Books 1785 -1999, page 255: Prior to the outbreak of the Great War in 1914, Wienholt enjoyed lion hunting near the Okavango River, and relates several exciting incidents including a severe mauling he received. Though there are additional encounters with lion and leopard, more than half of his work recounts the fighting in East Africa against the Germans and their askaris.
