First edition (An American edition was published in 1834). 12mo (112mm (103mm) x 187mm x 31mm). Bound in quarter brown leather and marbled, boards, gilt ornaments, and lettering to spine. All text-block edges trimmed, with decorative marble patterned stain. Hinges firm, internally firmly bound. Marble patterned endpapers. (2) blank, xvi, 509pp, (3) blank.

Condition: Overall Good. Light rubbing, small scuff marks and slight edgewear to boards. Light sunning and rubbing to spine. Small spot of glue residue from old slip on front pastedown, minor spot of superficial wear to front endpaper, previous owner’s name-slip fixed to front flyleaf, light foxing to some pages, more severe with offsetting to pages facing plates. Some repair work carried out to verso of fold-out map. Foxing to plates. Text is overall clean. Solidly bound. Please also see photos.
