Compiled by Tilman Lenssen-Erz, edited by Rudolph Kuper with contributions by Peter Breunig and Tilman Lenssen-Erz.

Part 1 502 pages, profusely illustrated with black and white drawings, colour plates, black and white plates, pictorial paper covered boards, with black cloth spine, a very good copy.

Part II: 12 folding black and white reproduction of paintings, housed in a slipcase with a matching cover to volume 1, which is slightly worn along the edges, the contents are in very good condition.

From the foreword by Rudolph Kuper: It was Harald Pager's belief in the importance of objective recording that marked him as a scientist who felt rather more obliged to add to the body of data than to get involved in academic discourse on the basis of fragmentary evidence. This attitude, fortunately combined with highly skilled craftsmanship, indefatigable diligence, and a spirit of sportsmanship, enabled him to endure eight years of work in the lonesome waterless heights of the mountain, and to compile a unique treasure of Africa culture and history. Pager traced 43,000 single figures and 879 rock art sites.
