Uniformly bound in original maroon cloth-boards, gilt-lettered to the spine [note: the spines of numbers 4-12 in the following list are sunned], top-edge gilt and plain green endpapers. All the volumes are first editions except number 2 in the following list. The indexes are full and descriptive [synoptic"].

  1. History of South Africa under the Administration of the Dutch East India Company [1652 to 1795] Vol II, 1897. xii + 462 pp of text, notes on books and index + 3 folding 2-colour maps. Condition: endpapers cracked, half-title and last leaf sunned, internally complete, unmarked and undiscoloured.
  2. History of South Africa. The Republics and Native Territories from 1854 to 1872, 1900. xv + 448 pp of text, appendix and index + 6-fold map. Condition: stain to front endpaper, signature on front endpaper, binding crack at title page, internally complete, unmarked and undiscoloured.
  3. History of South Africa from 1795 to 1828, 1903. xix + 480 pp of text and index + 5 inserted folding charts. Condition: signature to front endpaper, internally complete, unmarked and undiscoloured. 
  4. History of South Africa from 1828 to 1846. 1904. xv + 504 pp of text and index + four inserted folding charts. Condition: front endpaper lightly cracked, internally complete, unmarked and undiscoloured.
  5. History and Ethnography of Africa south of the Zambesi. From the settlement of the Portuguese at Sofala in September 1505 to the conquest of the Cape Colony by the British in September 1795. In three volumes with maps and plates. Vol 1. The Portuguese in South Africa from 1505 to 1700, 1907. xxiii + 501 pp of text + 4 inserted charts and photographs on art-paper. Condition: Andrew Levy's bookplates are pasted in at the front of this and the next 7 vols, page edges sunned in this and the next 2 vols; binding crack at title-page, internally complete and unmarked.
  6. Ditto. Vol II. Foundation of the Cape Colony by the Dutch, 1909. xx + 523 pp of text + 3 inserted folding maps. Condition: complete and unmarked, pp 295/298 disbound but in position.
  7. Ditto. Vol III. The Cape Colony to 1795, the Koranas, Bantu, and Portuguese in South Africa to 1800, 1910. xiii + 499 pp of text, notes on books and index to all 3 vols + 3 inserted folding maps. Condition: complete and unmarked.
  8. History of South Africa since September 1795. In five volumes. Vol I. The Cape Colony from 1795 to 1828, the Zulu Wars of Devastation, and the Formation of New Bantu Communities, 1908. xix + 503 pp of text, appendixes and index + 5 inserted folding maps and charts. Condition: complete and unmarked, first two-thirds of the text undiscoloured, the remainder sunned at the page edges.
  9. Ditto. Vol II. The Cape Colony from 1828 to 1846, Natal from 1824 to 1845, and Proceedings of Emigrant Farmers from 1836 to 1847. xv + 504 pp of text and index + 4 inserted folding maps and charts. Condition: complete, unmarked and undiscoloured. 
  10. Ditto. Vol III. The Cape Colony from 1846 to 1860, Natal from 1845 to 1857, British Kaffraria from 1847 to 1860, and the Orange River Sovereignty and the Transvaal Republic from  1847 to 1854, 1908. xv + 505 of text, list of printed books and index + 3 inserted folding maps and charts. Condition: complete, unmarked and undiscoloured.
  11. Ditto. Vol IV. The Orange Free State, the South African Republic, Zululand, Basutoland, Betshuanaland and Matabeleland from 1854 to 1872, 1908.  xvi + 504 pp of text, appendix and index + 2 inserted folding maps and charts. Condition: complete and unmarked, sunned at page edges.
  12. Ditto. Vol V. The Cape Colony and Natal to 1872, Griqualand West to 1880, Great Namaqualand, Damaraland, Transkei, Tembuland, and Griqualand East to 1885, Pondoland and the Portuguese Territory to 1894, 1908. xvi + 498 pp of text, appendixes and index + 2 inserted folding maps and charts. Complete and unmarked, lightly sunned a page edges.
