One folding map, printed in  two colors. (Map shaved along the lower margin). Light brown half morocco by W. Launder, spines gilt, top edges gilt (extremities rubbed). Provenance: Louise Whitin (1873-1947, bookplates); Peter Bates (signatures)

First two-volume edition – the first edition, in three volumes, was published in 1888. This edition includes the chapter on the  ‘Tweed Ring’ which was subsequently suppressed.
