A rare book produced in Germany in 1935 by photographic film manufacturer J. Hauff & Co. It was one of a series they issued depicting foreign countries to promote the excellent quality of their camera film. Despite the series numbers here (36 - 40) this book is complete, the others in the series refer to separate books concerning Japan, France and so on.
Presented here are 50 real photographs: 20 images of German Southwest Africa; 10 images of German East Africa and 20 images of South Africa. They are tissue guarded, captioned and excellent quality, measuring 8cm by 5cm. They show rural, native life and landscapes as well as gold mines, wildlife and towns. Original red cloth titled in gilt, tie binding strong and secure, all very clean inside and out. Rare and interesting.
