Fook Island 2 Aks Bank Note: Preliminary pencil design on thin card 128mm x 72mm. c.1974. The design features various pictorial elements, and the border is made up of fooklore wording "fly to Fook Island on an albatross, come away by dolphin ..." Wording on rear reads "Prof. Walter Battiss. Pretoria" in matching style to that of signature on etching. Foxed but undamaged or otherwise unmarked.
Transvaal Kloof Etching: 163mm x 149mm impressed onto 203mm x 160mm thin card.
Signed W.W. Battiss. An early etching dated 1929. At this time Battiss was probably in Rustenburg.
Foxed. The rear shows perhaps some strengthening, but in no way is this related to necessity - there is no creasing.
