The original version of Hanff's bestselling correspondence between herself in New York and a London bookseller was published in 1970. This "de luxe gift edition", using superior materials and signed by the author on the half-title page, followed in 1975. The book was designed by Jacqueline Shuman and set in Linotype Monticello.
Laminated photographic dustjacket, full-bound in blue calf, gilt to the upper panel and spine, blue-and-white head and tail bands, top edge tinted red, heavy blue endpapers, viii + 97 pp of text + [vi] pp of other matter - all on heavy antique wove paper.
The second book in this lot is a 1989 U K limp-cover reprint of both 84 Charing Cross Road and its sequel, The Duchesss of Bloomsbury Street, first published in 1974.
