ELECTRIC LIGHT. – Patrick DREW of Brooklyn (inventor) & William CLARK (a patent agent)
A manuscript document on vellum, being a re-assignment of the patent rights granted for ‘an Invention for “Improvements in the electric lamps”’, dated London, 20th July 1880, from William Clark to Patrick Drew, vellum, bifolium (18 ½ x 12 ¼ in; 470 x 311mm), ruled with red margin markers, blue duty stamp, signed and sealed on the second page, the third blank, docketed on the final page ‘Dated 20th July 1880 / Mr William Clark / to / Mr Patrick Drew / Assignment / of Letters Patent dated 19th day / of May 1880[Patent] No. 2037.
Drew’s invention seems to have been one of the early casualties of the race to perfect electric lighting – but an interesting side-note nonetheless.
