(pp. x, 267). Octavo (22 cm) in half morocco over marbled boards, gilt titles and decoration, top edge in yellow, marbled endpapers. Atcherley went out to South Africa in search for (what else?) gold, and according to Mendelssohn dug a lot of alluvial soil but found little gold. The chief interest is his description of the gold-seekers and the works at Spitz Kop and Pilgrim’s Rest. Scarce and a Fine copy.
