Author travelled to Cape Town via the Union Steamship Company's 'The Scot'. He journeyed through Matjiesfontein, Kimberley, Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth, Grahamstown, East London, King William's Town, Pietermaritzburg & finally Durban from whence he returned by 'The Tartar'. He makes observations on the colony and the colonists, the railways, hotels, etc. An interesting, if opinionated, travelogue of the period.

Gilt on textured chamfered cloth boards. 247pp.

Some library stamps, ownership inscription, rear hinge starting. externally fairly clean but shows some damp storage marks to rear board. there are remnants of a paper cover on both pastedowns. contents are clean. overall G+ condition.
