First edition of this early Millin work and considered by some to be her best novel. This is an interesting association copy, inscribed by the author to Edna Lambert Schreiner and dated 23.9.25. She was the wife of Justice Oliver Denys Schreiner, son of Olive Schreiner's brother W.P. Schreiner, and one time Vice Chancellor of Wits University. The original cloth is somewhat worn and the joints are rather tender. However, internally the book is clean and tight.
