Brick red boards with gilt titles to the spine. the boards have shelf wear, minor marks and scuffs. The pages are clean with slight age tanning. The name of a previous owner on the front end paper dated 1914. Gilt tipped pages, tops only. A small tear ( 10 mm. ) to the edge of the last printed page. The binding holds and is in fair to good condition.The overall condition of this copy is good.
The author received an invitation to the White House in Washington from President Roosevelt in 1905 . President Roosevelt suggested to the author to publish this book on the wild life of Southern Africa. Selous was not only a big game hunter but a passionate field naturalist as can be experienced in this well researched publication.
