Published by London: Adam & Chas Black, 1899. First edition in English. 8vo., xxvii, 330 pp., 10 pages ads at end, frontispiece, 29 plates, folding map, illustrations in text, original blue cloth gilt, gilt elephant head to upper cover, spine slightly darkened, a very good + copy.

'Foa, a Frenchman, hunted from coast to coast across central Africa with numerous sporting episodes . Among his trophies was an enormous elephant sporting tusks at 114½ pounds each' (Czech). There is an account of Kimberley and the de Beers mine, Transvaal, Gazaland, Nyasaland and Central-East Africa. Included is a Tete vocabulary.
