These are first edition copies of the attractive Folio Society set of 1961 and 1962 with Tenniel's original illustrations printed in maroon from electros of the original wood blocks supplied by Macmillan, Lewis Carroll's first publishers - 42 for Wonderland and 50 for Looking-Glass.
Blue figured paper-board slipcases, pink gilt-lettered cloth spines with blue paper-boards, each with 6 Tenniel drawings in maroon to both faces, plain chrome-yellow endpapers.
- Wonderland. Frontispiece + xiii + 113 illustrated pp.
- Looking-Glass. Fontiepiece + xiii + 131 illustrated pp.
Allowing for the sunned spine for Looking-Glass, the books themselves are fine and VG+ respectively, with the endpapers and contents unmarked and undiscoloured. Both slipcases are rubbed and have tears at the joins - slight for Wonderland but more extensive for Looking Glass.
