Originally published by the Roxburghe Press in 1893, this revised and extended work was issued c.1896. At this date Fanny was living in a Grace and Favour apartment at Hampton Court Palace. A most interesting and valuable work on conditions prior to the South African War, chapters include the Siege and Relief of Mafeteng in Basutoland; Colonel Carrington and the Cape Mounted Rifles; Peace Mission of General Gordon; Loyal Basuto Volunteers sent to put down the Matabele in Rhodesia, etc. etc. 257pp. 8vo.; bound in illustrated red cloth, gilt; bookplate of the Roxburghe Press tipped in at rear.
