Robert Broom's chapter on the [fossil] reptiles of the Kar[r]oo Formation was one of his early published contributions to palaeontology, for which he later become famous as the discoverer of "Mrs Ples".
Blue-cloth boards, gilt to upper panel and spine, plain cream endpapers, [2] pp of publisher's announcements, xiii + 491 pp with 25 monochrome plates and 29 figures in the text + 10-fold colour geological map at the back.
CONDITION. The boards, spine-ends and corners are rubbed. A crack between sections 18/19 has softened the binding slightly. The endpapers are sunned. There are two ownership signatures on the front free endpaper; also a pasted-in card "With the compliments of the Superintendent-General of Education". The contents are complete, otherwise unmarked and undiscoloured. The map is complete and in position with some tears at the folds having been repaired.
