Book Description: Olive Green Cloth. Gilt A.A.B. logo to front cover and gilt title to spine. 368 pages, illustrated throughout with black-and-white, and colour reproductions of art works. Appendices, bibliography & references, index.. Various (illustrator).
Book Condition: Apart from a small 8mm tear at the r/h top edge of the front end-paper and a slightly bumped top r/h edge of the cover-board, the rest of the book is very good. The dust-jacket is rubbed with a few tears on hinges, but it has done its job well in protecting the green linen hardcover from wear. The linen is still in very good shape indeed! The previous owner unfortunately used unsightly strips of masking tape on the edges of the dust-jacket to protect it from further wear and tear
In addition to more than 300 biographies of painters and graphic artists -- 190 of them in depth -- there are numerous articles and devoted to galleries and institutions, art groups and associations, as well as to the history of art activity in the main centres of South Africa.
