Dublin: Printed for Richard Edward Mercier & Co., January 1793 - December 1794. 4 volumes, includes subscribers’ lists at the front of each volume. Octavo (8 7/8 x 5ins; 226 x 127mm). 59 engraved plates (including 2 folding maps, 2 hand-coloured plates and 1 plate not included in the plate lists [as called for]), various illustrations. Provenance: Charles William Bury (?), (1764-1835, a subscriber, later 1st Earl of Charleville FRS, FSA, a subscriber, inserted slip "Wm. Bury")

A beautiful set, in a binding that is probably Irish - includes Thomas Moore's first published work: : vol. II, p. 299; vol. III, pp. 137, 223 and 461 (Moore was 'barely 15' at the time). This ambitious publication was wide-ranging if short-lived. It includes news, reviews, original poetry, historical articles, science, natural history and even a truncated attempt to publish a revised third (?) edition of William Cusack Smith's "Rights of citizens, being an examination of Mr. Paine's principles, touching government" (first published in 1791).
