The Black Sash was a non-party organisation of women who opposed apartheid. It operated throughout South Africa. Its aims were. To promote political and social change by non-violent and peaceful means. To strive for justice and principles of democratic government in South Africa. To seek constitutional recognition and protection by law of Human Rights and Liberties for all. To further political education in ourselves and amongst all our people. As taken from the last page of the Calendar.
Tony Grogan was a staff member and cartoonist for the Cape Times at the time of publication of this Calendar. He might be well known for his books " Vanishing Cape Town ", " Vanishing Villages" and "Settler Country". To honour his contribution as political commentator in South Africa , The Black Sash made him an Honorary Associate Member.
