Original pass issued to Coenraad Birkenstock, one of the 60 Boer delegates who attended the peace accord at Vereeniging.

Signed by General Botha and Lieutenant-Colonel H Hamilton, Military Secretary to General Commanding in Chief South Africa.

Counter signed on verso on 12 May, 1902 by the Officer passing bearer into British lines.

Letterhead features an embossed logo of the Royal coat of arms. The pass bears a Commander-in-Chief stamp dated 18 April 1902. In very good condition.

The pass comes with an original photograph (11×6.5cm) of Birkenstock, taken at Vereeniging.
