Register

Full-bound tan calf with raised bands. Gilt design to the front and gilt lettering and design to the spine. Plain Ariston cornfield endpapers with "special copy" presentation box on the front paste-down "to Andre Simon Conradie, on the publication of he book, September 1st 1969". Otherwise unmarked except for tape residue from pasted-in cutting of Terence Clarkson's November 1969 Rand Daily Mail review (see next para: now loosely inserted).

(The unusual review in the Rand Daily Mail gives the details of the genesis of the book: how the painter was seduced from his 9-5 job by a fanatical bird-watcher printer [who had lost both legs in WW2], who wanted to print "the best bird book that has ever been printed", and his choice of the team to help him achieve this.)

256 pp of prelims, b/w illustrated text, addenda and index, and 80 colour plates paginated with the text.
