The diary originated during the Anglo - Boer War in the Irene concentration camp where Henrietta Armstrong volunteered to work for six months. The diary gives a clear picture of camp life in all its facets. Few documents have emerged from concentration camps and this is a valuable , both for Historians of Anglo Boer war collectors.
