Wilson EYRE was the son of Kensington ship builder, Manuel EYRE, and his wife Ann CONNELLY. He was a Philadelphia attorney, who was United States Consul in Venice during the period of Italian unification. He had a law practice of Hughes & Eyre 927 Chestnut St. Philadelphia. He married Louisa Lincoln Lear about 1856 in Florence, Italy. About 1869 they retired to Newport, Rhode Island where they lived for 19 years. They are buried beside four of their five children. Their children were: Lincoln Lear EYRE, Wilson EYRE Jr, Manning Kennard EYRE, Richard Derby EYRE and Louisa Lear EYRE.
