This is a facsimile edition of a mid-19th century elephant folio treatise on coalmining and iron manufacture in Northern England, then Europe's leading centre for this industry.

Relevant to today's environmental crisis, the original was particularly famous for Hair's fine engravings (see images), which date from 1844 and were republished published by Fordyce in 1860 without acknowledgment. 

CONDITION. This is a near very good copy overall, complete, unmarked and undiscoloured.
