'A statement of the case of the Boers against the British up to the time of the first annexation and the London Convention. "The internal politics of the Republics are not mentioned, but special attention has been given to the relations of the Boers with the natives, when these brought the Boers in to contact with Great Britain." Dr. Leyds is very bitter against Sir Percy Fitzpatrick, and constantly declaims his work, "The Transvaal from Within," which he avers is "an account of things as they were not," and he remarks that "Mr. Chamberlain . . . rewarded Fitzpatrick for his indictment of the Boers . . . by conferring upon him what is sometimes described as the honour of knighthood." - Mendelssohn Vol.I, pages 896-7
The author was the State Secretary of the Transvaal Republic.
