A 128pp illustrated booklet detailing the discoveries of Dr. David Livingstone and Paul Du Chaillu.
Du Chaillu was a French-American explorer and anthropologist. He became famous in the 1860's as the first modern European to confirm the existence of gorillas and the Pygmy people of central Africa.
The illustrations in this booklet are sensational, in a sort of early comic book style. They depict the horrors and high adventure that await any traveler to the Dark Continent. It can be deduced from the style in which they were drawn that they were designed to seize the attention and stimulate the imagination of specifically young readers.
The booklet is in very good condition with a recent paper spine laid down. There is a 1,5cm tear into the booklet at the lower end of the spine.
