Brown cloth boards with decorative design, front and back and gilt pictorial to the top board and gilt titles to the spine. edge wear to the boards, corners bent, scuffs and fading to the spine. The pages are clean with some age tanning, light spots, intermittent foxing and a water stain visible to the back end paper. Deckle edged pages. The binding is in fair to good condition.
Mohammed Ali ( 1769-1849. ) was considered the founder of modern Egypt, he was the Albanian Ottoman governor and ruled Egypt from 1805 to 1848, he in fact controlled the entire Levant. The author Richard Robert Madden ( 1798-1886. ) was a medical doctor, writer and as an abolitionist who devoted most of his life to this cause.
