This magnificently illustrated book covers Hemingway’s glamorous life and times from 1939 until 1960. It includes Hemingway in his African Safaris - in Venice with his wife Mary Welsh, fishing for Marlin in the Gulf Stream, in his favourite cafes and at his home in Cuba, Key West and Idaho. Translated from the French by Marianne Sinclair, with more than 150 black & white photos of Hemingway and friends. 192pages(320cmx260cm). Illustrated light card cover with integral flaps. Front end paper exhibits minimal foxing. Top and bottom of spine slightly scuffed. Furthermore illustrated with 50 full-colour, vivid, cepia photographic plates, taken more recently, capturing the ambience of Hemingway's several homes and thus giving the compilation a nostalgic romantic feel. The title page features Hemingway photographed with his beloved cats. A sea captain gave him a kitten once known to have had one extra toe, and being a cat lover, kept the lucky offspring. The lineage was handed down and thus became known as the Hemingway polydactyls.
